It's an interactive way to meet new people and play a game simultaneously! One person gets a Key, the other gets a Lock. Once the evening begins, each person will try the Lock or Key of every other person, with the objective of finding his or her Match. That is, the Key that fits their Lock. Every time a Match is made, both people get their names entered into the Prize Drawing and then they are given new Hardware to re-enter the circle and try all the Locks and Keys again. In the process, everyone is meeting everyone else. You never know who has your Match hanging around their neck, so you want to try everybody's and they want to try yours!

When you arrive, you'll visit a friendly Greeter at the Check-In Desk. You'll be checked in and then directed to the Lock and Key Station. There, you will be handed a Lock or Key on a lanyard that you'll wear around your neck. Once everyone has been checked in, you will hear an announcement saying, "The Encounter has begun!" For the next 2 hours, you will go from guest to guest, and they will come to you, to meet.greet.and try each other’s Hardware!
You can definitely come alone to this event, and the reason is...once it starts everyone will be moving from one person to the next. It's a game of movement and motion. Even if you come with a friend, you will be moving around so much that both of you will be meeting lots of other participants throughout the evening.
Most Encounters are pre-paid. That is, you visit our payment section (Online payments via PayPal). Once you pay, PayPal will E-mail you a confirmation. Bring the confirmation with you on the day of the Encounter. We also recommend that you add your name to the accompanying Evite - through it, we'll E-mail you a reminder and any last minute details right before the Encounter.

Some are and some aren't. It will be specified on the event description if there is a target age or interest group. If no age is listed, then it's open to all.
You may meet one or two people that you have seen before, but the majority will be new faces. If you want to know who will be at an event that you have previously met, just E-mail us and ask. We have a number of events in the Vancouver area, so you can also try attending an event in another location near you.
We encourage you to come to the group that is closest to your own age, as you will get the most matches that way. If you are more than 1 or 2 years outside the "range", try and consider another group.
Complementary appetizers will be served throughout the evening. (Everyone is invited to order drinks and to stay for dinner and/or desert as well, if they like). Check with your event host as there may be other 'extras' at your event!

We always hire a totally private venue for our parties. Typically our events are held in stylish independent venues known for their great locations and decor.
We always offer a great range of prizes at our events including bottles of champagne, chocolates, meals for two plus some great prizes from our event sponsors.
What are the chances a lock opening?
You have a great chance of getting a lock and key match. There is always two keys in circulation for each lock so you will get many matches in one event.
How many people attend?
Although we can't guarantee exact numbers events typically attract 100 plus people.
Are the numbers of girls and guys equal?
Yes - pretty much. We carefully monitor bookings to control the girl/guy ratio and keep it as equal as absolutely possible.
What type of people attend Lock n Key Parties?
Similarly to our speed dating events our lock and key clients are professionals. Often attractive, fun and YES - totally normal! Often people attend lock and key parties because they are fed up with going to noisy night clubs and hardly meeting anyone. At lock and key parties you will meet loads of new people in just one night!
Do these events actually work?
We certainly think so - simply by the law of averages, because you are meeting so many people you are very likely to meet at least one or two people you like and want to see again!
What happens after the event?
The Lock and Key party is only the icebreaker start to your evening. By the end you will have met loads of new people so you are welcome to stay on in the venue as they often offer a late licence. Alternatively some people will move on and dance the night away with there new contacts. The choice is yours.
How long to the events last?
The lock and Key Party will last around three hours from start to finish - but this is just the beginning of your night!
Do you give us decent wine?
Naturally! We only use quality wines from across the world. We take advice from our wine experts on which wines to select for our events.

Is there another way to pay for my event other than through the internet?
We're working hard to get our merchant account up and running for you, until then, we can only accept credit cards through Paypal.com. Paypal is fast, easy, secure and FREE for you to use. Of course, you can always send us a cheque and once it clears, you will be eligible for any event after that date.
I'm having problems with registration. What should I do?
If you have tried registering for a Many Dates dot Com event online but are experiencing problems, please E-mail us at yourhost@manydates.com. Because web connections and web maintenance can affect browser performance, please try more than once. Success rates will be higher during off-peak hours.
Can I cancel my reservation?
Of course you can cancel but please don't unless it is absolutely unavoidable. To cancel your reservation, please E-mail us at yourhost@manydates.com.

Many Dates dot Com are reliant on an equal guy to gal ratio of attendees. Therefore, we only offer refunds on cancellations made five business days or more before the event you have registered to attend. There will be a $5 non-refundable administration fee that will be applied to your credit card upon cancellation for each transaction made. Any cancellations made on or within five business days of your event or any events booked but not attended will not be issued a refund. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Can I bring a friend who hasn't signed up?
We encourage you to have your friends sign up for the same event. If the event is sold out, we can put your friends name on our waiting list. If there is a cancellation or no-show, your friend can pay at the door and join the fun. If you have friends who are feeling a bit shy and just want to observe an event first, they can pay a small cover charge and sit on the sidelines and just watch. We are certain they won't stand on the sidelines next time!

Can I just show up for an event without registering?
We require all participants to pre-register online or over the phone to guarantee a spot at a Many Dates dot Com event. We do have a special waiting list for events that are sold out. Just contact us and we'll put your name on the list and let you know of any cancellations.
If you do show up unannounced the night of the Many Dates dot Com event we'll put your name on a standby list. If someone doesn't show up, you're in! So be prepared to pay cash at the door, take their place and join the fun.
The Many Dates dot Com event I want to attend are always sold out. Now what?
Our events fill up FAST. This is why we encourage you not to delay. Be sure to put yourself on the waiting list for any events that are sold out. Also, be sure to sign up for our mailing list so you'll be one of the first to hear about new events in your area.
I'm older/younger than the event I want to attend. Am I still allowed to attend?
We have no actual rules when it comes to the age group of the event you choose to attend. Keep in mind that most of the people that attend fall within the age range listed. Just pick an event that caters to the age range you feel most comfortable mixing within. If you don't see an age range that interests you in your area, contact us. Maybe we'll fix the problem!
What if there are no Many Dates dot Com events in a city/area near me?

When those 4 minutes are up you should have a good idea if the person you just met is worthy of your company. Chemistry is a strange and wonderful thing and will often work its magic in just a few minutes time. Trust us, when it happens, you'll know!

Yes, Many Dates dot Com hosts what is better known as Rapid Dating, Fast dating, Hurry dating, or Round Robin Dating events. But there is one big difference, we're the best at what we do! Don't take our word for it, try it for yourself. You'll be glad you did.
Does Speed Dating actually work?
Of course! We wouldn't be in business if it didn't. Most people end the evening with a number of people they would like to see again. Many start serious relationships, others find new friends, and some even end up engaged! It just goes to show that you never know what might happen until you give it a try.
